Skiing in Andorra!

This adventure was conceived just a couple days ago, when Eva offered me a spot to go skiing with her and a random Catalan guy that she met in a bar. I do not have any of the appropriate clothes for skiing here in Barcelona with me, and it was a bit sketchy to blindly get in a car and drive to a country that I had never been, outside of the EU, with a stranger. Deep down though, I knew that a little uncertainty coupled with a high reward potential are the exact ingredients for an unforgettable adventure. Plus, Eva had never steered me wrong.

Max, Nicole, Chris, and Nick were nervous and voiced their (absolutely valid) concerns, but I talked to my mom and she reminded me that I am the exact person to take chances like this. I needed that push, but in reality there was no way I was not going to pass up my first chance to go skiing in the Pyrenees. I stuffed all my warmest clothes into a backpack and took the train to Sabadell to stay the night with Eva so we could leave early the next morning.

Skiing in the Pyrenees. Of course, it was magical. Being with Eva at all just makes everything better and our new Catalan friend, Artur, is super great. I was so impressed by him speaking German with Eva, English with me, Spanish when we wanted to practice, and French with the guys at reception, all while being a native Catalan speaker. Both of them are amazing skiers and I pushed myself hard in an attempt to keep up with them. We skied all day.

The weather was perfect, not too cold at all, the slopes were empty, and the snow was pristine. Snow coverage was limited as it was early in the season, but the empty queues and the clear sky made up for it. The views were extraordinary. Every time we got off the lift we could not help but stop and stare. There were snow capped peaks in every direction and you could see for miles. Even though I was there, I still cannot believe it. What an amazing day.
